Sweetener by Ariana Grande is by far her best work! This album was released on August 17th, 2018 and is Ariana Grande’s fourth album. Sweetener has already reached the top of the charts. Grande’s new pop album is very personal. She lets listeners in on her life with the meaningful songs by making you laugh, cry, and really get to know Ms. Grande.

Ariana Grande opens her album with a 30 second acapella called “raindrops (an angel cried).” Grande strips away her pop sound in this song about her grandpa who passed away in 2014. Not only has Ariana Grande suffered from a loss of a family member but in the past year she has been through a break up and a terrorist attack at one of her concerts. The attack happened in May, 2017, in Manchester, England, killing 28 at Grande’s concert. The album ends with a song called, “Get Well Soon,” with forty seconds of silence at the end for the victims in Manchester. Many people assumed her new album would be very sad and full of ballads after the recent events. Grande makes a comeback with Sweetener filling it with many positive sounds and groovy beats.  The album has three featured artist on it including: Pharrell Williams, Missy Elliot, and Nicki Minaj. Each song contains a fun beat and catchy lyrics. Ariana Grande was just recently engaged to her fiancé, Pete Davidson, this past year. Many of her songs were inspired by him including the song called, “Pete Davidson.” In this short and sweet song she calls him her soulmate, listeners really get to see how happy and in love she is now. The first single  Grande released form Sweetener is a song called “No Tears Left To Cry.” In this song she sings about how she’s finally started to feel happy and no longer has any tears left to cry.

After a traumatic time in Ariana Grandes’s life she begins to move forward with Sweetener. Her album gives hope to listeners who have suffered at times in their lives. She has broken through many music barriers and the young singer has finally found her voice with her meaningful pop album. There are many great parts to the album, Sweetener, but the most important is that Ariana Grande has found a way to be herself with her music.
